After a blogging hiatus, thanks in part to a busy wedding season and several editorial projects, we’re back and ready to share loads of the latest weddings, engagement and bridal shoots.
To whet your interest, let’s start with Sara’s adorable bridal shoot. Sara is planning on making a Dr. Seuss-inspired book for her newly married husband. We spent a day flying a kite at Zilker Park where Sara and Jay had their first date, at their new home in Hyde Park, and at the Austin airport since they both love to travel, and which makes for some wonderful light.
Thanks to Sara and her friends for making this a storybook adventure to photograph.

Trent is an amazingly talented Austin blues-rock guitarist who fell in love with an adorably sweet and lovely kindergarten teacher, Ms. Brooke.

Their wedding day at Barr Mansion was packed with a plethora of beautiful moments. So enjoy the dozens and dozens of images because it was just too difficult to edit this wedding down very much. Trent entertained with his guitar towards the end of the night while his son backed him up on drums.

Destination wedding at the Branson Chateau on the Lake

Ah, Branson, Missouri… the Vegas of the Midwest. The little town is packed with glitz and shows, giant wax figures and theme parks, corn dogs and billboards for Yakov Smirnoff, Shoji, and The Baldknobbers.

But tucked away on the top of a hillside, there’s a fairy-tale castle hotel overlooking the beautiful Table Rock Lake, the Chateau on the Lake.

Jen and Court had their fairy-tale wedding at this lovely location and I was grateful to be the one to document it.

The wedding took place at the church that Josh grew up attending, The Lakeway Church, and where his father has served as the minister for the past few decades. If you’re wondering why this corner of the interwebs has been quiet for a few months, it’s because I married my best friend Anne last month! And we’ve been on an extended honeymoon adventure in Thailand and Indonesia!
The wedding day was perfect. It just went by way too quickly. But even when all the details you’ve been thinking about don’t come together, it’s really all about the person standing next to you. And I feel immensely lucky to have found my wonderful wife. The theme of our ceremony was “extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence”, a guiding principle popularized by the late great Carl Sagan. We’re looking forward to a life of extraordinary evidence together.
Gigantor thanks to our family and friends for everything, to our wonderful photojournalists and friends Katie Hayes Luke and Nathaniel Wilder, our new friend and amazing caterer and decorator Meg of Spoon & Co, our neighbor and friend and officiant Nam, Herb and the wonderful location of Mercury Hall, our great DJ Ross, and the many talented indie wedding designers of Wedzu that we used for decorations and rings. And thank you to all my past and future clients for not scaring me away from weddings! Seriously, the weddings that I have documented have been some of my most rewarding and inspiring work. I’m humbled and grateful to witness and photograph so many “best days” of peoples lives in Austin and around the globe, and I’m looking forward to the many ahead in 2011.
